ABOUT US

Our founder, Shana Rosenburg at a community event, excitedly talking to interested community members about Thread Up Oxford's work.

In 2018, the EPA estimated that the United States alone produced 17 million tons of textiles and discarded 14 million tons. The majority of textiles are used in the clothing that we wear and most will eventually end up as waste. Textiles show up everywhere: home decor, car upholstery, medical supplies, toys, and much more.

Thread Up Oxford is a new nonprofit in the Oxford, Ohio area dedicated to reducing textile waste that ends up in a landfill from within the local community. As the organization continues to serve our community and our mission, a solid foundation has already been laid to build upon through a variety of efforts:

  • Serving local social service organizations to support the needs of our community.

  • Educational speaking engagements and other forums on sustainable wardrobes and how our organization can help individuals, businesses, and other organizations reduce textile waste in the community.

  • Volunteer events to support the sorting and distribution of textiles (primarily clothing).
